The Vermont Equipment Distribution Program (VT-EDP) provides free TTYs and other adaptive equipment to Vermonters with disabilities who require special equipment to use the telephone.

Individuals whose family income was less than $27,380, and who can provide proof of a disability requiring adaptive telephone equipment, can qualify for up to $750 to cover the costs of necessary equipment. A waiver of the cap may be available for individuals who require equipment costing more than $750. In addition, individuals whose income exceeds the limit may receive funding through surplus funds available at the end of the year. There is a sliding income scale for families with children.

Equipment that can be funded includes:

TTYs, large visual display TTYs and Braille TTYs
Amplifiers and ring/flasher devices
Captioned Telephones (CapTel)
Voice carry-over telephones and hearing carry-over telephones
Personal computers (new or used) if purchased with TTY software
TTY software for personal computers
Other adaptive equipment needed to connect to the telephone system

The EDP application form is available online.
